Placing the skirt pattern on the fold, cut out the bottom skirt layer |

Cut off 3" from the skirt pattern and cut the top layer. Be sure to place the pattern on the fold. |

Pin the cushion top pattern onto fabric and cut. The seam allowances have been added to the pattern. |

Apply piping the cushion top. See "Apply Piping Like a Pro" in our Tips & Techniques section of our website. Add additional trim or fringe at this point, if desired. |

Press seam open and divide the band into 4 equal sections. |

Divide the cushion top into 4 equal sections. |

With right sides together, pin the band to the cushion top, matching up the markings on the band and the marking on the cushion top. |

Stitch the band to the cushion top using a 1/2" seam allowance. |

Using batting (we use 1" thick), cut out the cushion top 16" diameter. Cut a piece of batting for the band that is 52"x4". Batting is available from Textile Warehouse (1-800-281-9391). |

Serge or straight stitch the band to the cushion top. |
|

|
|
Slip the batting over the foam. |
|
Slipstitch the batting in place with a needle and thread. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Spray foam adhesive on the bottom of the foam. |
|
Spray foam adhesive on the bottom of the foam. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Staple the bottom of the cushion top to the bottom of the stool. |
|
Add additional trim or fringe, if desired, by stapling. |

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Staple piping on next. |

Staple the top skirt layer next, placing the right side down |

|
|
|
|
|
|
Staple the bottom layer skirt next, right side down |
|
Staplecardboard tacking strip next, lining up the outer edge with the edge of the particle board. This gives you a rigid edge. Cardboard tacking strip is available at upholstery supply shops and at Textile Warehouse (770-381-1199). |

Turn tuffet right side up and you are finished! |
