Q: Can the knobs be mounted above window, ?I have no room for rods because of cabinets

Yes they can absolutely be mounted above the window. The screw in the back isn't very long so most of the time you will require the finial adapter http://bit.ly/2iXpmSF to be used along with it to your treatments a projection.
