Questions and Answers
This is an easy-to-construct valance and can be adapted to fit any size window.
It can be installed on
knobs with post adapters
or on a
curtain rod with rings
. This valance is also reversible.
. The decorative ties are optional. For a simple, clean look, the horns can be omitted. Click on the "Photo Gallery" icon to see all the variations. Here is an article in
Southern Lady Magazine
featuring the Tracy Valance with panels underneath.
Q:
Could this be mounted on a board and where do you add for a 61" finished width?
Asked by:
Judy
- 2/5/2014
A:
Judy, if you want this mounted on a board, you would have to add a backdrop/skirt to the board like we have on the Kasey or Emily Patterns. Then you could just screw the finials/knobs into the face of the board to attach the valance to the board or use a staple gun.
All of the instructions for adding to the width are included in the pattern. Basically you would just add additional "swag" & "horn" sections.

Q:
On the Tracy Valance, or those cafe clips holding the pleats at the top?
Asked by:
Becky
- 4/8/2014
A:
The Tracy valance is made up of several pieces which are sewn individually installed in layers. One way is to use our clip rings. If the fabrics are too thick for the clips to bite all the layers we then use our tack gun to attach the gussets to the valance then we use the clip to hold only the main valance piece. Another option if you are not using our hardware, is to use a draper pin to slip through the back of the main valance piece after you have used the tack gun to connect the gusset, then hook it onto your hardware. Call us if you need further clarification.

Q:
I am making this valance 48 inches ( 3 panels) for my granddaughters room. I want to use a rod with clip rings. What diameter rod do you suggest?
Asked by:
Gail
- 7/11/2014
A:
We would actually recommend any size rod for the Tracy valance. It looks good with a small wrought iron or a beefy wooden rod. Just keep your room furnishings in mind when making your decision.

Q:
When I hang the valance on a rod, do I put the ties through the ring and tie them. Also, Can I use the clip rings to pinch the horns and the main fabric or just use the drapery hook?
Asked by:
Gail
- 7/17/2014
A:
Running the ties through a ring that is installed on your rod is one way of installing the valance if you sew the ties to the horns, but we didn't do it that way. It makes it a little too bulky. The ties are tied on around the base of the ring after everything is installed. Sometimes we use two clip rings at each horn because the little clip is not wide enough to clip all the layers of the valance. You could omit one of the clip rings by using a drapery pin in the back of the horn. After the clip ring is installed on the valance, slip the drapery pin through the ring or hook it over the top of the valance after it has already been inserted into the back of the horn. Call me if this doesn't make sense. I'm happy to clarify.
